Fratticciola and surroundings
Tuscany as it was…
The village of Fratticciola di Cortona has been preserved as pristine as it was in the days of Nonno Bibo.
A piece of authentic Tuscany, a single street, two rows of peasant houses.

At one end of the village is the parish church which was built in the 15th century AD and dedicated to Saint Giusto and still to this day, mass is held there every Sunday.
At the opposite end of the spectrum is the ARCI club, once a gathering place at the end of the workday, now the home of the village’s cultural activities..

Leaving the village in the direction of Cortona, one can find a minimarket that sells everything one can think of.
If you travel in the other direction, one will find the sports ground, home of the local football team AC Fratticciola and directly after is the museum of peasant civilisation, ‘Museo della Civilta Contadina’, a symbol of the effort of the people of Fratticciola to remind the people of their history and not to forget where they come from.

If you want to relive days gone by, every 2nd Sunday in October there is the ‘Festa del Carro Agricolo’, a show of antique farming equipment and tools, accompanied with stalls of local produce and local delicacies such as ‘Ciacce’, a sweet or savoury bread cooked in a wood burning oven, biscuits, chestnuts and sweet wine.
In the local area, one can find cycling and walking trails, such as ‘Il Sentiero della Bonifica’ which runs along the edge of the River Esse and traverses through the Cortona countryside.
There are also horse riding stables nearby, fishing lakes and wine tasting cellars, tennis courts, “Monti del Parterre” public swimming pool and much more…
